It's good for someone with a theological background to review these books that seem to be sooo popular amoung christians to help them to hopefully see "The Only Way" to GOD. "Good inspiration doesn't mean true salvation".

I often read comments of people on Beth Moore. She is human and a woman and she never denies that she struggles to find more knowledge of the bible and she always approaches from a stand point of these are different commentaries and I am studying. Beth also did this Bible study from Blackaby Experiencing God. If you look for God you will find him and I found God in this book so it did something for me and many other women. I have a fabulous testimony and she also be still and listen in her studies. Do you

Deborah,

After reading this book review and (some) of the comments above, I was so thankful for what you wrote.

I believe in examining the Scriptures. I believe in sound doctrine. I know that Beth Moore believes in these things, too.

She and I probably do not agree on everything in our theology.

Who we do agree on is Essential: Jesus Christ, the risen Lord.

Too easily, I am gripped with spiritual pride when I study doctrine and theology. Too often, I become engrossed in proving that my opinions on God and His Word are correct, rather than listening to the Holy Spirit speak to me through the written revelation of God.

For anyone who thinks they are using literal biblical hermeneutics, I encourage you to think seriously on the Jews who confronted Jesus with the Torah over and over, and how literal they were in their hermeneutics. And how often He says to us in the Gospels: "you have heard it said....but I tell you...."

By all means, lets test the spirits to see where they come from (I John 4:1), and study the Scriptures (II Tim. 3:16), and always be alert for the false teachers among us (Matt. 7:15).

And let us pray like Jesus did, our great High Priest and Counselor:

“ 'My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.' " John 17:20-23

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Your sister, Suzanne

How sad this is...yet, we find it is not unique to the ears of God. Please read Mark 38-41 "John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followed not us: and we forbade him, because he followed not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part. For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward."

The body of Christ has many members...What does the scripture say in 1 Corinthians 12: 12-26...I would caution you in that "But now God hath set the members every one one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. I would suggest you take the advice of Gamaliel's advice..."and he said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men...But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight angainst God." Acts 5:33-39

I am also thinking of Galatians at this point...But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not comsumed one of another.

Because of Christ and Him crucified and alive again that I have redemption,

Several women above defend Beth out of emotions rather than objective analysis of her teachings. My first contact with Beth Moore stuff was in 2005 when I was asked to review her 10 DVD series "Believing God." I found it much like this review of her book: must twisting of scripture, claims of direct revelation from God, pop-psychology, etc. When I started my blog a couple years ago I posted an article about her false teachings and brought howls of protest against me. I posted a few other articles since to demonstrate thoroughly that she is a dangerous teacher to be listening to = her good stuff is poisoned by the bad. THis link will take you to the first article, which has links to the new ones:

I've posted a couple short articles more recently, but mostly defending my stance and linking to other researchers' works.

Thank GOD, many of us are opening our eyes to doctrinal errors in these bible studies. I too was once a great fan of Moore. She helped me to get interested in reading the Bible....The Bible became the only book I read for about two years,It became my milk ,and then my meat, my necessary food., Like the Bible says;If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. "And you shall know the truth, and the trurh shall make you free". John 8:31-32. In 2009 I was invited to a Bible study by Moore....This was a no brainer. I said yes! What a surprise this turned out to be. I had changed and was mature as a chriatian I just didn't know how much, until I began seeing errors in the teachings ,I didn't say anything at first; because maybe I thought I was now too spiritual, legalistic,or judgemental and besides that there were two pastor's wives that were participants.Surely, during our discussion... of Bible Study questions someone would say something. Instead, there was laughter and such content with the funny sayings and the humour and the ear tickling relatable personal stories...everyone, it appeared felt very satisfied with their spiritual intake of milk, meat ,bone without any discernment. Many of the ladies in this study had done soo many of Moores studies that they had lost count...This was their lifestyle. I, on the other hand, this was my 4th.My first study I was not in a relationship with CHRIST. I knew lots about him ,but he didn't know me as his sheep. The second study was Daniel, which I purchased the entire series and the work books, invited three of my neighbors and we had a great time learning while being entertained....By this time, I was now a born again baby christian who hungered and thirst for the word of GOD. AFTER THE DANIEL STUDY I however, continue to hunger and thirst after the word of God. I read late into the night and began early in the morning,I couldn't get enough , I am still in awe of how awesome, powerful and quick the word of GOD is.,Fast foward almost two years later one of my DANIEL study neighbor invited me to my 3 and my 4th Moore study. The Fact is; I had changed too radically after just reading the Bible and no other books or commentaries for that long....I had no other interest at that time ..my hunger was all consuming and passionate. The 4th Bible study was proof of GODS word being alive and active in my life... My peace which I had now come to love in my relationship with Christ was stripped, I couldn't sleep, became anxious and depresed with a wretched like feeling. I didn't know exactly how to wrap my emotions around my despair whilst everyone else seemed unaware. I began to pray that the feelings would go away because if I would say anthing to the facilitator of the class ( a pastors wife) it would embarrased my neighbor who invited me. I am usually someone that would avoid confrontation at almost any cost . GOD, YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS. WHY am I in this position? After many sleepless nights I knew what I had to do. MY peace is now restored, but my heart is soo grieved by my discovery of the subtle stratergy of the enemy . IF we remain baby christians we are very vulnurable to the rampant apostasy that is already rampant in EVANGELICAL CHURCHES and well known Bible teachers . Two years ago I never knew that Eastern mysticism,Contemplative prayer ,The labyrinth would be in the christian churches speaking christianeese. Brothers and sisters the NEW Testament is filled with warnings FOR BELIEVERS. The attack on believers will not come from the enemy in your hair salon or your work place. It will come from within THE CHURCH and from someone we trust spiritually..... The great falling away

I enjoyed your review and agree with you. I have done nearly all of Beth Moore's studies because my sister teaches them. In the workbooks I have to write no to all the answers. I can't believe there are so many insecure messed up Christian women. I think instead of reading books like these they need to study the Bible, pray and walk in the Spirit. They are becoming groupies of Moore's.

Stef, Thanks for your comment.

The ladies at our church have enjoyed a study of The Enemy Within:Straight Talk about the Power and Defeat of Sin by Kris Lundgaard. It is not designed specifically for women, but as a group of ladies work through the material the appropriate applications can easily be made. The ladies at our church have also gone through The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace as well as Attitudes of a Transformed Heart by Martha Peace.

Changed into His Image:God's Plan for Transforming Your Life by Jim Berg is superb. This is a study of the three-part process of sanctification: putting off the old man, renewing your mind, and putting on the new man. Four chapters are devoted to each. Biblestudy aids are available: workbooks for individuals (to accompany the main book), a leader's guide, and even videos if you want them.

Also, check out Elyse Fitzpatrick and Martha Peace for more books to women.

Hope that helps. :)
