Why Do We Baptize Infants

This is a 32 page booklet on the Covenantal teaching on infant baptism. It was written by Bryan Chapell, the president of Covenant Theological Seminary (PCA) in St. Louis, MO.

I am not Covenantal, and I do not believe Scripture teaches infant baptism. I offer a short response to Chapell’s booklet.

Is there anything outside of God’s control? What about rape, child abuse, incest, genocide, torture, abortion? Can God stop these acts? Does He willingly allow them?

cloudsThese are difficult questions, but they deserve an answer. I believe the Scriptures do, in fact, speak to these issues.

Let’s take a look at what the Scriptures say.

Right with God

John Blanchard has written this excellent book as an evangelistic tool.

Dressing Appropriately: Putting on the Garment of Compassion

July 10th, 2007

Last week I brought up the idea of dressing appropriately as Christians. I am speaking metaphorically, of course. Look at what the Apostle Paul says in Colossians 3:12-14.getting dressed 2

Colossians 3:12-14
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

Today, I would like to offer some help in putting on the garment of compassion. Perhaps you haven’t worn this garment in a while. Perhaps its dusty and hard to even find in your closet. Let me offer some help.

What does it take to put on the garment of compassion?

Ed Welch, a biblical counselor at the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation in Philadelphia has written this booklet to teach people the important work of considering the motives of their heart with everything they do.

How often do you repent of wrong motives? Have you tried to make changes that didn’t stick? Have you struggled with the same sinful habit for years?…

July 4th, 2007

Welcome to the Family

John MacArthur has written this little book for new believers. It is a great “gift book” to keep on hand to provide help for those who are new in the faith.

In this review, I will quickly summarize the book, share some of its strengths, and suggest one weakness that I see with it.
